ABOUT THE REFRUBISHMENT
When Station Hall closed in early 2023 the aim was to restore the roof of the building. This was the first time the building would receive a complete renovation and the closure opened up other opportunities to transform the space. New windows were installed and vehicle interpretation was created for the first time its history.
Teams involved have gone above and beyond to make sure Station Hall feels exciting and new, while retaining its heritage and favourite collection items.
New windows were installed along the edges of the building, matching the natural light the interior would have received when it was still operated as a goods station. At the time the archways did not contain doors, exposing anyone working inside to the elements.
Today the windows give a view of the brand-new foot and cycle path Hudson Boulevard running alongside Station Hall and provide the public with a tantalising glimpse of the space as they walk along the building.
