We are proud to have wonderful and priceless objects within the museum which, unfortunately, means you cannot get inside of them. However, we are able to host private dining in the beautifully restored Countess of York.

We can accommodate up to 1000 people for a drinks reception and 600 for dinner. However, we are reviewing the capacity of our spaces to accommodate social distancing.
We have combined the Mallard and Rocket suites to create a large space for socially distanced conferencing. With two metres of distancing it can hold 16 people, or 36 if distancing is reduced to one metre.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible.
All lifts in the museum are wheelchair accessible and have audio announcements. The majority of museum lifts have Braille labelling on the buttons.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available in the Conference Centre, Great Hall and Station Hall.

Induction loops and infrared systems
Induction loops are installed in the Mallard Suite. If you have other needs please discuss them with your event manager.

All of the spaces in our Conference Centre benefit from natural daylight except the Evening Star Theatre. Station Hall benefits from natural daylight which can be enhanced with atmospheric lighting by our AV suppliers.

The Railway Museum cannot provide an unrestricted dedicated line, and bandwidth availability can vary due to demand.
There is free car parking for all guests when booked with an event. Please contact your event manager regarding this. Note that cars cannot be left overnight.

Absolutely! Station Hall is ideal for medium to large celebrations, with areas to accommodate the ceremony, drinks receptions and wedding breakfast indoors. The Countess of York offers the perfect alternative option for intimate wedding receptions.
There is no height restriction in our car park, but there are two height-restricted bridges nearby: Scarborough Bridge Tunnel, which prohibits vehicles over 3.6m high; and Leeman Road Bridge, which prohibits vehicles over 3.3m.
