In 2016 Nick and Richard chose the National Railway Museum for their perfect September wedding. Guests began the day in Station Hall and were greeted by a string quartet before proceeding to the Royal platforms where the ceremony took place.
Guests then made their way to the promenade for a drinks reception accompanied by luxury canapés including mini Yorkshire puddings, poached salmon and lemon filo cup and red snapper skewers.
Friends and family then moved on to the main event, where guests enjoyed a three-course meal with a starter of terrine of smoked fish with red pepper, sage and saffron, micro cress salad and cherry tomato confit. This was followed by a main of Dales beef fillet with red onion marmalade tart, confit of root vegetables, dauphinoise potatoes and oxtail jus. The meal ended with a Yorkshire-inspired dessert of parkin and ginger crème brûlée, orange treacle tart and sticky toffee pudding with caramel ice cream.
Having dined in fine style, the guests partied the rest of the night away to a DJ and band.
Comments from the couple:
Over the year Helen demonstrated a real attention to detail, and in the weeks leading up to the day itself we realised how essential this was. The running order for the day was comprehensive and gave us great confidence in how our day would work.
David’s (catering) friendly and accommodating approach was second to none. He met with us on a few occasions and helped us design a more bespoke menu and drinks package. He was a very reassuring presence and gave us confidence that the day would run professionally, and we were not disappointed.
All our guests had a fantastic time. We have had many rave reviews about the venue, the food and how the whole event was run in a seamless manner! The food was commented on by many of our guests who felt it was exceptional.
Undoubtedly one of the contributing factors to us having a wonderful wedding and celebration was the entire team at the NRM. We are both incredibly grateful for a job very well done.
