The National Railway Museum is the world’s largest railway museum and houses over a million objects celebrating train travel. The museum is firmly established as one of Yorkshire’s most prominent wedding venues, offering a unique destination for wedding celebrations by transporting guests back to a luxurious era of European rail travel.
Couples can hold their wedding in Station Hall, which features the museum’s famous royal carriages and can accommodate up to 250 for a wedding ceremony and reception or 500 for a wedding reception. Intimate receptions can also be held in the Countess of York, a beautifully restored luxurious Pullman-style carriage which has been converted to host up to 12 guests for a ceremony and 30 people during the day and evening.
The unique spaces on offer at the National Railway Museum provide a truly special, one-of-a-kind experience for couples who hold their weddings here. The venue can be transformed effortlessly from a public museum space to an exclusive and magical setting, with atmospheric lighting, elegant touches and awe-inspiring backdrops creating the perfect platform to say “I do”.
The individuality of the venue space is also reflected in the bespoke services offered to help create the most memorable, enjoyable day for couples. Each couple benefits from a dedicated wedding co-ordinator to help plan their wedding and make sure every detail is taken care of so that the day runs like clockwork.
Mr and Mrs Ridgway tied the knot at the museum in June 2019 and got in touch with their feedback:
“Saturday exceeded our wildest dreams! It was amazing!
The food was exceptional, the venue was beautifully presented and everything came together fabulously. Our guests were absolutely flabbergasted with the whole event!
You did an amazing job, so please convey our thanks to all of the team at the museum.”
